Came here from Everflame, I thought I'd do you the favour of trying your game too as you did mine! Let's start with the positives:
I think your game did exceptionally well with the singular mechanic of touching bombs. You center your entire puzzle game around this mechanic and made a scoring system based on getting as little bombs as possible. Very nice! And the game is quite well polished because of the simple system. I love it!
I like your slow introductions of new mechanics. As is with puzzle games, its difficulty is well defined by the number of mechanics it has - as such, I think you did it justice here. The yellow and black goo caught me by surprise but I very quickly learned what it did. All in all, I think you did the difficulty really well!
Some things I thing could be better:
Might be a bug with the game, but I only wished that when you start the level, the fuse wouldn't start immediately. If you had already coded that in, then that's good - it's a good feature especially as a puzzle game.
The exit could be made more clear. The arrow signs point them well but I think if you at least made the tilesets on where the exit should be a different color, or extremely obvious, could just add a little bit more touch to the final product.
All in all, I like it actually. Nice game. Like a good solid 7/10 as a prototype. If you give it much more love, some levels, maybe a custom editor, more music and sound, more art - I can see this becoming a nice small mobile game for $0.99 - y'know.
Hey, thanks for the feedback! I appreciate it! That bug is in fact a bug, the bug being that if you're not quick to release the direction you are pushing you'll start moving right away in the next level. I need a delay before I accept input so people don't do that! Things you learn after you've submitted your first game, right?
And yeah, I could for sure use more art for the exit, a slipping sprite for the player, and probably a background in general :)
Pretty good for your first game! Nice level design as well, I also really like the concept. I think this could make a very unique game if you worked on it a bit further after the jam. I made it with 47 bombs, is that good?
Thanks! First game, first game jam! I'll update with some music/sound fx/more levels and a more clear ending message when the Jam is finished on Thursday :)
